by | Jan 19, 2017 | News

Civil society representatives will join forces to strengthen francophone networks and to hold governments accountable to their water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) commitments throughout West Africa.
Next week, from 24 to 26 January, in Cotonou, Benin, a diverse group of francophone civil society organisations (CSO) from West Africa will participate in a workshop for structuring and reinforcing advocacy and collaboration in the region. The meeting is co-organised by the Permanent Secretariat of Non-Government Orgnisations (SPONG) of Burkina Faso and a range of other lead organisations including; Coalition Eau, the Benin Water Partnership, Eau Vive, together with the support of Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) and its CSO partners.
The purpose of the workshop is to strengthen the regional connections and partnerships with the different actors and influential CSO networks working on advocacy in the region, so that together we can increase our influence governments notably around finance WASH issues and the Sustainable Development Goal on Water. A session of the workshop will be dedicated to the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) partnership and preparations towards the upcoming SWA High Level Meetings in April 2017.
This meeting will be a fantastic opportunity to bring together over 35 organisations and national CSO focal points throughout the region. Representatives will be coming from Mali, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, Niger and Mauritania, as well as from Europe. Other civil Society networks such as Watershed and Water Integrity Network (WIN) will also be present at this workshop, so as to progressively bring coordinated support to CSOs.
We look forward to a fantastic workshop and to developing a strong dynamic regional network throughout West Africa. Together for a better future for all!
