End Water Poverty Progress Report 2022 – 2024

by | Jun 25, 2025 | Blogs

End Water Poverty (EWP) is pleased to publish their new progress report, reflecting on their achievements and impact since 2022 – 2024.

End Water Poverty (EWP) is a global civil society coalition campaigning for governments to respect, protect and fulfil people’s human rights to safe water and sanitation. The diversity of our membership is one of our greatest strengths. We have over 160 civil society members representing 90 countries across Africa, America, Asia, and Europe, from grassroots groups and community-based organisations to trade unions, social movements, national/regional networks and international non-government organisations (INGOs).

It is our conviction that social change is powered by civil society. Our core campaign Claim Your Water Rights continues to demonstrate the transformative power of grassroots organising and locally-led action. Funding our members to design and deliver context-sensitive, community-led campaigns has consistently produced exceptional results around the world. We complement this approach by amplifying the voices of communities and demands of members at regional and international fora, whether it’s at the UN 2023 Water Conference, the People’s Water Forum, or the Human Rights Council.

Internally, EWP has focused significantly on shifting its processes and governance to promote Southern leadership within the coalition and champion the localisation and decolonisation agenda within the wider water and sanitation sector. While undergoing this significant transition we have still managed to maintain active engagement within the coalition, fostering strong member relations, learning, and solidarity. managed to maintain active engagement within the coalition, fostering strong member relations, learning, and solidarity

This report was coauthored by End Water Poverty’s Senior engagement Officer Sam Taylor and End Water Poverty’s Global coordinator Nathalie Seguin Tovar. EWP would like to thank all the members for their contribution to these two years of work, the Steering committee members and the CYWR task team members. EWP would also like to thank Alana Potter for her time and work as global coordinator until July 2023.
