In Central Thailand’s Phichit province, a group of villagers resisted a goldmining company that polluted their water and destroyed their livelihoods for almost 20 years. Manushya Foundation have written a comprehensive exposĂ© documenting the villagers’ fight against corporate impunity and state exploitation. Despite severe suppression and intimidation, the Phichit people have made numerous attempts to claim their rights: in 2016 they launched a class-action lawsuit demanding adequate compensation and the restoration of their natural environment.
