The South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN) is a sanitation-centred biennial convention led by the governments of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation nations – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Over the years, SACOSAN has been instrumental in creating platforms to generate solutions, share best practices, enable cross-country sharing of progress and allow countries to agree towards a development agenda. The previous SACOSAN conferences were held in the following countries:
- Dhaka (Bangladesh) in October 2003
- Islamabad (Pakistan) in September 2006
- Delhi (India) in November 2008
- Colombo (Sri Lanka) in April 2011
- Kathmandu (Nepal) in October 2013
- Dhaka (Bangladesh) in January 2016.
The next and seventh SACOSAN conference will be held in Islamabad in 2018. The exact dates of the conference are yet to be confirmed. SACOSAN at Islamabad marks 15 years of this exciting journey. In 2018, the conference would provide opportunity to reflect upon sanitation issues in the South Asia Region in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the results of the 2017 Joint Monitoring Programme Report (JMP).
The SACOSAN VII Secretariat invites professionals to submit abstract(s) for technical papers for the conference. Please see document attached to this article to find out more about the call to submit abstract(s).
